WHAT IS KETTLEBELL SPORT?

Girevoy (Kettlebell) Sport is a unique cyclical power endurance sport. It combines some technical elements of Olympic weight lifting with aerobic qualities seen in whole body endurance sports such as rowing and cross country skiing.

It's fun, challenging and incredibly rewarding!

MEMBER PROFILE - SHIRLENE NEVILL

I remember going to watch my very first Kettlebell sport competition in Bendigo, what now seems like so long ago.

I was amazed at such an eclectic group of people competing. From 15 year olds to 60 year olds, all different heights and weights, doing different lifts, using different sized bells, and everyone enjoying themselves. I was intrigued and thought that it was something that I could be involved in.

The best thing about KB sport is that you can do you. You can compete against yourself, trying to increase your reps, increase the weight of the bell you use but you can also compete for ranks, an Australian or world record or a place on the Australian team competing against other countries, if that’s what you want to do.

My proudest achievement was being named in the 2022 Australian Kettlebell team.

MEMBER PROFILE - MELISSA RYAN

I never thought of myself as an overly strong or fit person. KB sport has completely changed how I see myself and what I can do. I am now stronger, fitter and much more resilient.

The achievement I am most proud of is ranking in the 16kg half snatch. I took me a year of training to reach this goal. For me, KB sport is about seeing how far I can progress.
